She is currently part of teh Psychological First Aid Team at ASU and on the board of LIFE Livinging Independence for Everyone.

As colleges throughout the region and the nation address the needs of an increasingly diverse student population, issues related to disability are increasing in number and complexity.  Mental health clinicians in colleges and the surrounding communities need to know about the issues that have an impact on their clients and they need to know about available resources in order to effectively work with all students.

This presentation will allow mental health clinicians at colleges and in the community to discuss this topic and share information so that these students may be better served.

The lecture will provide clinicians with a basic working knowledge of recognizing early warnings signs of an eating disorder in adolescents as well as symptoms commonly presented in adulthood. This year, you will also get to receive one CEU on the topic of Dimensional Diagnosing.  Mandy Miller, MS, LCSW will be presenting information on how the shift from the trait-based model of the DSM-IV TR to the dimensional model of the DSM 5 changes the way that we think about psychological disorders, the treatments for these disorders, and how we think about diagnosing people. This is an exciting shift for clients as we begin to recognize that the behaviors they are demonstrating are normal behaviors that fall outside of the what is functional or healthy for that individual person in their individual circumstances.
